This list is subjective and you may have found your favorite crab cakes elsewhere.

But, here is my list.

This is the best crab cake I have ever had. This is Chef Diane’s famous recipe.

There is virtually no filler. It’s all crabmeat and it’s wonderful. They are perfectly formed every time and after all these years I still don’t know what keeps them together (with no filler to speak of).

The flavor and texture are perfect.

This is my second favorite crab cake. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the easiest way to get these delicacies is through the mail.

If you order before Wednesday at the end of the morning, you will have them at home by Friday. They arrive fresh and frozen.

Simply bake (from frozen) in a preheated 450 degree oven for 27 minutes and they are perfect every time.

Here’s a look after biting into one:

Simply put, everything owner Cookie Till does, she does well.

This includes his famous crab cakes.

They are delicious. Cookie also offers them in a fabulous crab cake sandwich alternative.

Either way, you can’t go wrong. Cookie never skimps on the quality of all products and ingredients.

LB ONE RESTAURANT – EGG HARBOUR TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY

My identical twin brother, Don Hurley, thinks ‘Murph’s Crab Cakes’ is top notch.

They are perfectly formed, with multiple layers of texture and flavor.

Very well balanced, hearty and delicious.

CRAB TRAP – SOMERS POINT, NEW JERSEY

These little beauties are simply fantastic. They are slightly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside.

You get five of these mini crab cakes as an appetizer. They also make wonderful regular sized crab cakes.

I love these “mini poppers”. Two bites with each, or, many people put them in their mouths at the same time.

They explode with fabulous flavor.

DOCK’S OYSTER HOUSE – ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY

The Dougherty family has been synonymous with seafood for over a century. You can not be wrong.

Their crab cakes are made with high quality ingredients and loving care.

They are light, but very satisfying. You can have one served on a piece of fresh plaice and wow.

KNIFE & FORK INN – ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY

Yes, the Dougherty family made it to our top 7 list twice.

Here’s why.

Check out this perfectly formed jumbo crab cake served with a red pepper coulis.

It’s pure perfection, taste, texture and attention to detail, everything is perfect.

Here is an 8th wonderful crab cake as a bonus.

Here’s a look at my late mother’s crab cakes, performed by my sister Karen, who is a wonderful chef.

These are objectively delicious and so sentimental to me. They are not light. They are hearty and full of flavor.

It’s a spectacular way to end our quick review of some of the best crab and crab cakes in Atlantic County, New Jersey.

Enjoy your meal.
