Mind Blown Seafood Launches New Crab Cakes and Launches National Distribution at Sprouts Farmers Market

Mind Blown by The Plant-Based Seafood Co. announces the launch of its fourth alternative seafood product, Mind Blown Crab Cakes, and its first national distribution in Cabbage Farmers Markets. Starting today, the brand’s new Crab Cakes, Dusted Shrimp and Dusted Scallops will be available at Sprouts stores across the United States.

Mind Blown Crab Cakes contain plant-based protein and are seasoned with celery and onion to recreate classic crab cake flavors, plus panko breadcrumbs for a flaky texture. In addition to sprouts, crab cakes, scallops and shrimp are also available to wholesale buyers via VedgeCo.

Over the past few months, the women-founded vegan seafood brand has garnered high-level support from major food industry influencers, including celebrity chef Spike Mendelsohn, co-founder of popular plant-based burger chain PLNT Burger. In February, Mendelsohn invested in the alternative seafood company for an undisclosed amount. Months later, Top Chef host and James Beard Award-winning chef Tom Colicchio also joined MindBlown as a backer.

Mind Blown’s products have won numerous awards, including Best New Frozen Product at the 2022 Expo West NEXTY Awards, Best Plant-Based Seafood Product at the World Plant-Based Awards, and most recently, Best Plant-Based Seafood Product of the Year at the Mindful Awards.

“Fantastic in itself”

“Based on our years of experience creating traditional crab cakes, we wanted to create a plant-based version that was identical in taste and texture to the crab-filled ones we used to make by hand” , said the co-founder of Mind Blown. Monique Talbert. “Any application of a traditional crab cake, ours does just as well, if not better. Our plant-based crab cakes are fantastic on their own, or in your favorite crab sandwich, slider or even stuffing.
